  It would appear that George Debord married his cousin, since the marriage bonds clearly state that her name was "Lydea Debord." (It is possible that she was married to another Debord, but I believe she might have been referred to as Mrs. Lydea Debord if that was the case. I should check with someone knowledgeable about NC marriage bonds to see whether I am right about that or not.) The Ben Debord who was listed as bondsman could have been from either of their immediate families. George Debord's wife, Lydia, appears on the 1830 census in Surry County, North Carolina, but is missing from the 1840 census. It is likely that she died prior to 1840; there is a female in the 1840 George Debord household, but she is probably one of George's younger daughters.
