The birth year matches the birth yr of Margaret McKenzie, dau of George McKenzie - I imagine that she married Alex BRILL.

Other Events:

• RESEARCH: Dad has a note in one of his notebooks that says the McKenzie\'s came in through Nova Scotia--presumably from Scotland. No source. Written in a notebook when he was in Mountain View--so likely came from some family member?

Had a first marriage in Canada, resulting in one child. His wife died, and he left the child, and all of the money that he had (around $1,000) and moved to White Co IL to start again. Sold his farm in Hamilton Co IL and established a dairy in Marion Co IL

George married Margaret "Betsy" Vickers before 1810. Margaret (daughter of James Vickers and Polly Johnson) was born in 1783 in Tennessee, USA; died in 1843. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

James married Polly Johnson on 20 Jan 1782 in Botetourt County, Virginia, USA. Polly was born before 1770; died in 1794-1799 in Tennessee, USA. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Notes:

(Research):The likely years of Polly's death were calculated from information contained in the Revolutionary Pension file of her husband James Vickers, and the subsequent pension application of his widow, Elizabeth (Mowery) Vickers. Elizabeth stated that she married James in 1799, and that his eldest son was just 18 months younger than she. Also that he had 7 children with his first wife. Since Margaret was born the year before John, we can assume that 5 more children were born after them. At an average of 2 years between children, the last one might have been born sometime around 1794. Since James Vickers married a second time in 1799, I have calculated her death to be between 1794 and 1799. I would imagine it was likely to be toward the latter end of that period, but all is speculation.
