• Obituary: 7 Jul 2009, Sandy, Oregon, USA; From The Sandy Post (Sandy, Ore.): \"LELA ZUMWALT May 22, 1928 - Jul. 1, 2009 Sandy resident Lela Zumwalt, 81, died Wednesday, July 1, in Milwaukie. A funeral service was held Tuesday, July 7, at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home in Gresham. Private burial was at Forest Lawn Cemtery in Gresham. Lela was born May 22, 1928, in Wakonda, S.D., to Edward and Mabel (Harts) Robbins. She moved to Oregon when she was a child and graduated from Gresham High School. On Jan. 10, 1960, she married ROLEY ZUMWALT at the Presbyterian Church in Sandy. Lela worked at Farmers Insurance Company in the processing department until 1963. Her interests included bowling, growing tomatoes and spending time with her grandchildren. She lived in the Boring and Gresham areas until moving to Sanday in the 1990s. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1997; and by her son, Jerry Thompson. Survivors include her daughter, Katie Cummings of Milwaukie; brother, Clyde Robbins of Sandy; sister, Edith Doughtery of Salem; and five grandchildren. Bateman Carroll Funeral Home is handling arrangements.\"
