    Dickie Hobson Walker, Sr. of Knippa died Friday, May 16, 1980, in Audie Murphy Veterans Hospital, San Antonio, at the age of 53.

    He was born July 22, 1926, in Gatesville. He and Judy Clark were married July 5, 1977, in Uvalde. He was a member of the Knippa Church of Christ.

    For a number of years, Dickie Walker worked for the Hornby Press.

    He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Judy Walker, Knippa; two sons, Alvin Walker and Dickie Walker, Jr., both of Uvalde; and a sister, Mrs. Lillian Moeller, Uvalde.

    Funeral services will be at 2 p. m. Monday, May 19, in the Knippa Church of Christ with Bro. Ted McElroy officiating.

    Interment will be in the Knippa Cemetery under direction of Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary of Uvalde.

    Obituary:
    Obituary, Hobson Walker, 1943, Uvalde
    Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon for Hobson Walker, 45, a resident of Uvalde the past 15 years, who died suddenly near Sabinal Tuesday afternoon.

    The services were conducted by the Rev. M. M. Fulmer, pastor of the First Baptist church, assisted by the Rev. W. H. Petty, at the Vess Funeral Home chapel and interment was in the Uvalde cemetery.

    Walker was a native of Osage, Coryell county, and was born May 4, 1898. He grew to manhood in that part of the State and was married to Miss Emma Martin at Gatesville on Sept. 9, 1917. Two children were born to this union, both of whom survive. He came to Uvalde Dec. 15, 1928, and had resided here since. He was employed for 11 years by H. W. Little Inc. He was fatally stricken Tuesday afternoon while at work as a carpenter near Sabinal.

    He is survived by his widow and two children, Lillian, and Dickie, three brothers, John of Crystal City, Aubrey of Gatesbille, William G. of Wichita Falls and two sisters, Mrs. Winifred Powell of Gatesville and Mrs. Isaac Lowrance of Uvalde.

    George's son James S. "Jimmy" Walker was one of Baylor's "Immortal 10"--10 Baylor basketball players that were killed when a train struck their bus in January 1927. The ten are still commemorated by incoming freshmen each year at Baylor.
