  "Walter W. Burke, 76, of Thealka, died Monday, January 17 in a local hospital following an extended illness. He was a retired carpenter and was affiliated with the Thealka Freewill Baptist Church. He was the son of the late William and Arminta George Burke. Immediate survivors include his wife, Vivian Welch Burke, one son, Elmer G. Burke of Seattle, Washington, two daughters, Mary K. Coleman of Dayton, Ohio, and Francis H. Thacker of Paintsville. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 pm. Wednesday, January 19 at the Thealka Freewill Baptist Church by Don Fraley, Ellis Hamilton, and C.C. Hall. Burial followed in the Welch Cemetery at Concord under the direction of the Jones-Preston Funeral Home."

Notes:

A James Burke died at the East Kentucky Asylum in Covington on 7 April 1900, and was buried at St. Patrick's. He was born in Cincinnati to Patrick and Mary Burke, who were both born in Ireland. Found in the Kentucky Death Records, 1852-1953, Ancestry.com
