Based on the 1860 Stewart Co TN census, which reflects wife Emma born in TN - and the 1870 Hamilton Co IL census, which reflects wife Ama, born in IL. It would appear likely that Anderson was Amy's first child, and that all children preceding him belonged to first wife Emma.

There is a John Vineyard listed in the 1820 White Co IL state census index: #382, John Vineyard, 1 male 21+, 4 other whites in household. He is also found in the 1818 census. In the 1810 census, there is a J. Vinnard, but I am not sure if he was in the White Co area.

• RESEARCH: Dad has a note in one of his notebooks that says the McKenzie\'s came in through Nova Scotia--presumably from Scotland. No source. Written in a notebook when he was in Mountain View--so likely came from some family member?

Had a first marriage in Canada, resulting in one child. His wife died, and he left the child, and all of the money that he had (around $1,000) and moved to White Co IL to start again. Sold his farm in Hamilton Co IL and established a dairy in Marion Co IL

George married Margaret "Betsy" Vickers before 1810. Margaret (daughter of James Vickers and Polly Johnson) was born in 1783 in Tennessee, USA; died in 1843. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

"The first settler in the area [Norris City, White Co, IL] was John Vineyard, who came from Tennessee in 1815 and settled near the present site of the Norris City water tower."
