Bennett was enumerated age 20 in his brother's 1930 household, Los Angeles County, single. In the 1940 census and the 1940 Bakersfield Directory he had a wife named Ellen.

Divorced:

Bennett married again in 1945. While it is possible that his first wife died, given her age and the family history, it is more likely that they were divorced
