(Research):Posting on a genealogy board indicating a Roush family Bible in Joplin, MO. Posted by Barbara Roush Barrow:
------------------------------
Samuel B. Roush, born 15 Sept, 1860 at Lena Ill., married Amanda Alice Roush, born 28 Feb. 1868 (no maiden name listed) but she was born in Wayne Co., Mo.
Children:
Eula M. Roush, born 8 Sept, 1900 is listed along with Vera Opal, born 16 April, 1902, Fred C. Roush, (my grandfather) born 4 Dec. 1886 and John Homer Roush, born 1 Sept.1888. Also listed are Hazel Maureen, born 10 Oct. 1894 & died 24 Dec,1899, & Ramona A. born 8 July 1908 & died July 26, 1908.
It sounds like P. Kirkman's grandmother, Eula, & my grandfather, Fred, were brother & sister.
Would really like to hear from P.Kirkman.The e-mail address of kgemk@aol.com didn't work & I was unsuccessful in locating him/her through AOL. Does anyone out there happen to know P. Kirkman? His or her posting of August 25, 1999 seems to be the only posting in the Roush forum. Would really appreciate any help anyone out there can give me. I'm new to geneology & this is the first strong connection I've happened upon. Thanks to you all!!

(Research):The likely years of Polly's death were calculated from information contained in the Revolutionary Pension file of her husband James Vickers, and the subsequent pension application of his widow, Elizabeth (Mowery) Vickers. Elizabeth stated that she married James in 1799, and that his eldest son was just 18 months younger than she. Also that he had 7 children with his first wife. Since Margaret was born the year before John, we can assume that 5 more children were born after them. At an average of 2 years between children, the last one might have been born sometime around 1794. Since James Vickers married a second time in 1799, I have calculated her death to be between 1794 and 1799. I would imagine it was likely to be toward the latter end of that period, but all is speculation. | Johnson, Polly (I3935)

It has one son under 5, and we believe their young son to have been born between 1838 and 1840. It reflects a male age 20 - 30, and a female 15 - 2 0; Jane Eveline Tidwell would have been 18. | Tacker, William (I1002)

1830 Dickson Co census shows the only adult female in the household of Elijah WALKER to be in the 20 - 30 age category. This would place her birth roughly between 1800 - 1810. Her son, Helton Rutherford WALKER, in the 1880 Howell Co MO census and the 1900 Howell Co MO census indicated that his parents were both born in Tennessee. Jessie Fondy believed that she was born 1800 - 1808 (I don't know where this came from.) LDS records indicate her birth ca 1804 (again, no source documentation). I have chosen to use the only dates that I am able to document - those from the 1830 census. | King, Matilda (I1577)

1850 White Co IL census transcription indicates his age as 35, making the birth year 1815. However, I believe this is a misreading of the original census, or an error by the census-taker. All subsequent census points to a birth year of 1825. | Cook, John (I861)
