This article was given to me in copy form, by Harold Reeves, and it is missing the specific publication date, and the newspaper name. Internal evidence ("The many friends of this estimable old couple will join the Mirror in wishing them many more happy anniversaries.") tells us that it is the Mirror, and a little research discovers that there was a Glencoe Mirror newspaper in Payne county, OK, at the time of the 49th anniversary. | Source (S1042)

This family group is confusing, but I believe this is probably the same John Story, father of George T. STORY. He is said to have married a Clara or Clarinda VICKERS. However, the wife in the attached census is Elizabeth. Possibly Clarinda and Elizabeth are the same person? Or possibly his marriage to Clarinda was at a different time? These children would appear to be the children of said Elizabeth, since their mother is stated to have been born in PA, and she was.
If George T. STORY is indeed the son of this John A. STORY, then the relationship between my gr gr grandfather Samuel P. STORY (b 1856) who married Minnie Ellen HILL to George T. STORY who married her sister, Mary HILL, is at last defined.
CENSUS NOTE: This would appear to be the John A STORY who was the eldest son of George Foster STORY, by his first wife, Malinda LEACH. My gr gr grandfather Samuel P. STORY would have been born nearly 20 years later, to his second wife, Charity ADAMS VICKERS. If correct, this at last defines the elusive relationship between Samuel P STORY (who married Minnie Ellen HILL) and George T. STORY (who married her sister, Mary HILL); they were cousins (George T being the son of Samuel P's elder half-brother.
The fact that this family is found in the Morgan Co IL census supports further the idea that this is the George T. STORY who married Mary HILL, whose family was also in Morgan Co IL at one time. William HILL, Mary's father, was b in PA, as was George STORY's mother. Possible connection between William HILL & Elizabeth UNKNOWN? | Story, John (I1695)

This is a "best guess" by Michael Brown at the parentage of John and Nathaniel McCARROLL. The following comes from his website:
"The identity of Nathaniel and John McCarroll's parents has not been determined for certain, but it appears that their father was John McCarroll who died in Spartanbury County, North Carolina on March 5, 1800. The will of this John did not contain the name of his wife but it showed three sons: Nathaniel, John, and Thomas; and two daughters: Genrot and Ruth. It also appears that this John was the son of Nathaniel McCarroll who died in Surry County, North Carolina in 1779. His will shows a wife Elizabeth; two sons, Thomas and John; and one daughter, Mary."

This marriage appears to have ended. A Marie Howorth Mason is found in the California death index, b 17 April 1901, Iowa, mother's maiden name Downs.
Ira and Marie's Crawford Co IA marriage record (Ancestry) states that her mother was Lucinda Downs and that she was 19 years old in 1919.
Marie Mason's FindAGrave in Gilroy, Santa Clara County CA indicates birth of 1900 and death in 1950. It is not connected with any other family members.
No census or other data indicates that they had children together. Although Ira married again, it appears that he had no issue. (Unconfirmed.) | Family (F430)

Thomas appears in only one document to date: the 1861 Dundee census home of William Donald. Diligent searching has failed to discover a marriage, death, or subsequent census for Thomas.
At the same time, James Donald, born in 1844, would have been sixteen or seventeen in 1861, and he has not been located in this census.
"Thomas" is an unlikely alternate for "James," but it does seem possible that the census enumerator simply heard and recorded the name wrong.
In the meantime, I have retained Thomas in the numbered genealogy, as a placeholder. | Donald, Thomas (I60)

Though FindAGrave and her cemetery marker give her birth as 16 October 1861, she was enumerated in July 1860 as 8 months old.
This would support a birth month of about October but a birth year of 1859. It is likely that she was born on the month and day found on her stone, but in 1859, not 1861. | Taylor, Adena "Addie" (I1182)

Through position in the family (just older than Joseph), and the similarity in name (Elena or Almira), and the close age, I think Elena from the 1850 and Almira from the 1860 were probably the same young woman. Also seen on Ancestry as "Elmira."
It is not unusual that 10 years later, she (or her mother) would represent her as a little younger.
Mary Kitchell, DNA match to Lu DeBoard Walker and Janis Walker Gilmore, states that Almira never married, though she had several children, all of whom carried the surname Clark--including her ancestor Joe Douglas Clark.
An Ancestry tree, "The Viola Greenwood Heritage," posted by Elma Gacho Greenwood, names Joe Douglas Clark's mother as "Elvira Clark," parentage not given. She lists his father as Stephen Decatur Burton. Records elsewhere clearly reflect that Stephen Decatur Burton was married to another woman.
Possibly Elvira/Almira had a long-term relationship with a married man, and several children with him? Possible male descendant of Burton and one of "Almira" could determine this? | Clark, Elvira/Almira/Elena (I7411)

Tom Walker and his wife Phoebe Crowder have a headstone at Walker Chapel, where both of their parents are buried. However, Phoebe's death certificate indicates her intended burial at Center Hill. Her husband was the informant, and the family had history at both churches, so possibly he misspoke, or he later changed his mind.
Her obituary clearly states that "regardless of the rainfall, she was followed by a large coucourse of friends to Walker Chapel, where after a short service conducted by Bro. A.J. Koonce, the body was laid to rest to await the resurrection morn." | Crowder, Phoebe Tennessee "Tennie" (I3398)
