Beth Story Moore states in her e-mail of 2 Sept 1999: The James E. Story (b1828) of 1860 White Co IL with his three older sisters was the son of Robert F. & Hannah Story. See this same family listed on 1850 census, where James says he was age 24 (b1826). On 1880 census, he says he was age 52 (b1828). Sharon Cemetery records say he was born 9 Dec 1823, died 4 Oct 1908. I don't have the 1900 census, so I don't know how he is listed then. I wonder if the cemetery list I have is incorrect - sometimes it is very difficult to read those old stones - and maybe the year of his birth was 1828?

Beulah's parents were discovered by searching the 1900 Georgetown County census for a "Beulah" born about 1890. This was the only likely candidate, residing in on Waccamaw Neck. Additionally, the birth month offered for her in the 1900 census (July 1889) agrees with data from the "Beaulah Either Morse" cemetery marker at Belin Cemetery in Murrells Inlet.

Biography of William L. BRUCE, from "The History of White County, Illinois" originally published in 1883, and reproduced by the White Co IL Historical Society in 1997: William L. Bruce, section 5, Indian Creek Township, was born in Carmi Township, June 29, 1831. His father, John Bruce, was a native of North Carolina. William L. has been a life-long farmer. He has always lived in this county with the exception of three or four years spent in Gallatin County. He was married in Gallatin County in 1851 to Jane Givan, a native of Hardin County, Ill, and a daughter of John Hardin. They are the parents of ten children, five living - Harriet (Mrs. Witcher), George N., Annie (Mrs. Maxfield), William S., and Sarah E. He is a member of the Methodist Episcopal church in Ebenezer. He has been a Steward and Class-Leader several years, and is now Sunday School Superintendant.

Birthplace from his 1850 census. Also granddaughter Ella's 1930 census named her father's birthplace as "Free Ireland. Her father was Robert T. Jolly, born prior to immigration. Another of Robert T. Jolly's children, Nancy, stated in 1930 her father's birthplace of "Northern Ireland." Mary Effie Jolly, daughter of Joseph Webster Jolly stated her father's birth place as ""Irish free state."

While these granddaughters are addressing only the place of birth of their own two fathers, not the grandfather, they are still helpful clues to the family's whereabouts.
