Jane's father, Peter W. SMITH may have been the son of David SMITH of Lawrence co ARK - or at least a nephew. Facts supporting this: 1. The widow Nancy McCARROLL (grandmother of Nancy and mother of Jane) is found on the same page of the 1840 Lawrence Co AR census with the David SMITH family. 2. The David SMITH family is found in 1850 Lawrence Co AR, with wife Mariah. There is no Peter in the home, but Peter was already married. 3. David and Mariah were married in Caldwell Co KY 3 June 1824. 4. Peter W. SMITH was born ca 1824. David and Mariah's oldest child in the 1850 census was born ca 1826 KY. 5. Nancy (mother of Jane, grandmother of my Nancy) was married to John McCARROLL in either Spartanburg SC or Caldwell Co KY. | Smith, Nancy Marie (I3312)

Janis,
I am so glad that you found some of your family in Oregon County!€ I found three ROUSHs in the Cemetery book for Oregon County.
ROUSH, Eve Arbogast, 1810 - 1871 ROUSH, Juda, 11 Jun 1871 - 15 Feb 1872
The 2 above are buried in the Woodside Cemetery located just north of Thomasville on Highway 99.
ROUSH, Shelby Dawn, 14 Aug. 1994, 12 Sep. 1994, dau of Scott Francis & Melissa Dawn Roush.
Shelby is buried in the Huddleston Cemetery located on Hwy 160 about 5 miles NW of Alton.
I am sorry to say that I did not find any male ROUSH marriages in Marriage book A, B, or C.
Have a great holiday,

Joe HARDIMAN indicates that Ann's maiden name was HARDIMAN. He has sent me a scan of the document listing the children of Thomas HARDIMAN, including his daughter Ann and her husband John CROWES. The name CROWES has a question mark behind it in the official document. | Source (S432)

Joel Franklin DeBoard's diary from the last year of the Civil War exists, and is in the hands of the following family:
Mildred DUTTON 3429 Lindbergh Rd Canton OH 44718
I have a (not very good) copy, and their typed transliteration.
The front pg says: "Natchez, Mississippi January 1st 1864 J. F. Deboards (Book) his address Sacramento White County Illinois I was born in White Co Ill. 1836. Enlisted at Shadsville in White Co Ill in the year 1861"

John and Lucy Bolerjack cannot be located in the 1880 census. Their son, Calvin, is found in the home of Whitfield Hill, at the age of 14 (presumably a relative of his mother, Lucy J. Hill). Som William E. (15) and daughter Sarah E. (24) are found in the home of William A. HILL, where they are listed as his niece and nephew. Son Joel Bolerjack (21) is found in the home of his uncle Henry Bolerjack, in Howell County, Missouri. Daughter Winnie and son Samuel cannot be located.
The fact that the children are spread about among relatives leads me to conclude that John and Lucy did at some point prior to 1880. | Bolerjack, John E. (I3220)

John CROWDER, who is found in the 1880 Howell Co MO census at age 33 is almost certainly the same John CROWDER found in the 1850 Lawrence Co TN census, age 3. Supporting this is the fact that the John Crowder in Howell Co census states his father was b in SC and his mother in VA. The 3-yr-old John in the 1850 Lawrence Co census is with his father, John, b SC and mother, Ann, b VA.
He named two of his children Amanda and William - names of his siblings.
Additionally, he would be a nephew to Bluford A. Crowder, who had moved to Howell Co after the War. | Crowder, John W. (I429)

John Giles Trusty is absent in the 1860 census, but Frances has borne children between 1850 and 1860, and their surname is TRUSTY. Where is her husband, who was postulated dead at the time o the 1850? Also - it would appear from census data that Obedience in the 1850 is probably the same as Samantha in the 1860. | Forrester, Frances (I1716)
