  • Notes  Married:
    • Martha would have been about 15 at the time of this first. brief marriage. Divorce was unusual, particularly after such a brief period. It also seems unusual that Ivy DeBoard, from a quite religious family, chose to marry a recently divorced young woman. Martha herself was quite religious--her preacher son remembers her praying loudly and fervently, sometimes at inconvenient times.
