Deed of gifts from Elizabeth Walker to "her beloved son," George Walker, conveying to him a young male slave. On the same day, Elizabeth Walker gave her "beloved son" Elijah Walker a slave girl named Ailee. The deed specifies that offspring of the slave are to be given to his sisters, Elizabeth Heartly, Polly Bazzell [Brazzell], and Ritha Turner. The deed is witnessed by George H. Walker.
These deeds are important evidence of relationships, specifying that Elijah and George H. are sons of Elizabeth Walker and that Elizabeth, Polly, and Ritha, are their sisters.
It is also evidence of who the three named girls married. |
