      The marriage record lists the bride as Vanny Clark, but I believe it was misread. Nancy CLARK married John BLACK between 1863 and 1866 (the year of the birth of their first child). It was more than likely toward the latter end of the period. Putting this fact together with the fact that Nancy's father Isaac CLARK is found sometimes in Osage county, and sometimes in Howell county, I believe "Vanny" to be translated in error, from "Nancy" or "Nanny."
