"Mrs. Booker T. Whiteaker
Sarah Elizabeth, wife of the Rev. Booker T. Whiteaker, died at her home yesterday, at the age of 71 years, 11 months and 8 days. Funeral services were held from the Union church this morning at 11 o'clock with the Rev. Walter Jenkins in charge. Burial was in the Union cemetery under the direction of Carl K. Spencer.
Mrs. Whiteaker was the daughter of the late Jesse and Caroline Smith, early settlers in Dent county, and was born June 3, 1866. She married the Rev. Whiteaker March 1, 1883, and they were the parents of eleven children. A daughter, Ruth Brown, died at the age of 25 years, and the others survive. They are Maude Asher, Myrtle Gamblin, Jesse, Carl, Lola Tournbough, Vernon, Herschel and Maxine Maledy, of Salem, Dow, of Nemaha, Nebr., and Lena Pryor, of Sligo.
She was converted and joined the Midway Baptist church at the age of twenty-five years, and lived a consistent Christian life, being a great help to her husband in his ministry." |
