  • Notes
    • A Luther D. Walker is found in the Zion area of Izard County for his WWI draft registration--the same place that Ewell Oscar Walker was registered for the draft. However, while Ewell Oscar's birthdate conformed to his 1900 census data, that of Luther D. Walker indicted his birth in 1885--7 years earlier.

A Luther D. Walker is found in the 1930 Izard Co census, married to Ethel M., and with a calculated birth year of 1887. Both the WWI draft reg and a marriage record identify this as the same Luther D. Walker, married to Myrtle Ethel Taylor. Everything points to an 1885 (or thereabouts) birth--unlikely to have been confused in 1900 by so much and so specifically.

Finally, Luther D. Walker and his wife have a headstone at Pea Ridge Cemetery in Benton County. It gives Luther D.'s birthdate as 11 May 1885, whereas the subject Luther Walker's birth (in the 1900 census) was May 1892.

Additionally, Luther D's 1930 census states that both of his parents were born in Arkansas.

Luther D. Walker (husband of Ethel) died in 1965 and his headstone is in Pea Ridge.

There is a Luther Walker listed as a burial in LaCrosse Cemetery in Izard County where Jacob and Mary Walker are buried. Though it offers no dates for birth or death, it appears likely that these are two different Luther Walkers, both residing in Izard County, and within 8 years of being the same age.
