Newspaper article on this date, stating that James Monroe Clark was named as the executor of the will of Lucinda Clark, deceased; and on 13 September he had applied for letters testamentary for same. He was to report to the court on 21 October, regarding same.

It is not clear who this Lucinda Clark was. He had an older half-sister, born between 1869-1871, possibly the twin of George F. Clark. She disappeared from the records after the 1876 census.

Subsequent newspaper article on 2 October 1953 in Sallislaw indicates that Lucinda Walkingstick became Lucinda Clark and that her heirs are James Monroe Clark and Betty Walkinstick. So likely NOT the right James Monroe Clark or his sister?

[The census data for the John C. Clark family in 1900 Howell County, MO, is difficult to interpret, due to a poor digital image, taken from a poor original. As an aid to interpretation, I downloaded the census page from another source on rootsweb: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/mo/howell/howecen.htm. The digital image on rootsweb is better than the ancestry image, and with photoshop enhancement, the data was available for transcription.]
