    "On Friday last Sup't Ely of the County Infirmary, and Chief Fitzgerald of this city, conveyed to Elgin, Mrs. Matteson of this city, who formerly resided at Prophetstown, and who has been mentally deranged for several years. The unfortunate lady was adjudged insane several years ago and taken to the asylum, but two years ago, being harmless, the authorities allowed her to return home with her daughter. Latterly she has grown more violent, and it is believed that her mental malady is incurable."
