• Notes

  The 1870 census lists him as Thomas L. However, there is a child in the family in the 1880 census called 'Howell' who is the correct age to be the same person. I believe the census taker probably misunderstood 'Thomas Howell' and wrote it down as 'Thomas L.' [3, 4]
