"Lightning Hits Farm Near City
Damages Are $100; Family Inside House Escapes Unhurt
During the rain and electric storm Friday evening the farm home of B. A. Bolerjack, one and one-half miles south of Cushing near the Sunnyside school ws struck by lightning.
The bolt of lightning struck the north end of the kitchen about 8:10 in the evening. It broke all the dishes in the kitchen, broke out six or seven windows and ignited a mattress in an adjoining room. The mattress was quickly extinguished with little damage by the Bolerjack family.
Mrs. Bolerjack and four sons were in the sitting-room of the four-room house adjoining the kitchen but were unhurt.
The property is owned by G. W. Eggleston. It is estimated that the damages to the house amount to about $50. and to the furnishings and dishes owned by Bolerjack to about the same amount." |
