From the Wenatchee (Washington) World, 9 June 1993::Mae W. Godwin, 91, died Monday, June 7, 1993, in the Cashmere Convalescent Center.
She was born Dec. 29, 1901, to Jacob and Mary Lou (Ferguson) Walker at Myron, Ark. She never attended school, but taught herself to read and write.
She married Elijah Ransom Godwin on Nov. 8, 1939, at Ash Flat, Ark. He died in 1982.
She had been a member of the Baptist Church since 1916. She had moved to Washington when she was 80.
She is survived by three sons, Carl Godwin of Salem, Ark, Shelby Godwin of Udall, Kan., and Curtis Godwin of Spokane; three daughters, Jackie Arnold of Grand Coulee, Winnie Evans of Cashmere and Ruby Hastings of East Wenatchee; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Elijah, two brothers, a grandchild and three great-grandchildren.
