- The 1870 census for this family is an important one; it verifies that Charity marrried a man named Henderlight, because it places her Story children in the home with her.

Notes |
- Charity appears in two census families in the 1850 census; once in Randolph Co IL with her parents and two of her VICKERS children; and once with her husband George Foster STORY in White Co IL. Oddly, her youngest VICKERS child, Mary age 6, appears in the George STORY home, while her old two VICKERS children, Eli and Clarinda, appear in the home of her parents. Possibly Charity was visiting her parents when she was enumerated with them on 27 Sept 1850, and had returned home to her husband by Oct of the same year, leaving her older children behind. [14]

«i»The marriage date is a rough guess based on the approximate birth year of their eldest known child, Bryant Adams. This presupposes that John Adams was not previously married - a big leap of faith.I have been unable to find more about this family prior to their move to Illinois. There are some ADAMS families which use the names Abraham and Charity found in Mercer and Rockbridge counties of Kentucky, but no connection has been established to date.«/i»
