Since Elizabeth's youngest child, Irene, is found in the home of her grandparents, Richard and Levina (Hartley) Tatom in 1860, age 1, and since Elizabeth's husband's 1919 obituary names her death year as 1859, it is reasonable to assume that she probably died from complications in childbirth.

- Richard's Oregon Donation Lands file states that he and his wife Levina were married in "Dixon" County, Tennessee, on this date. Many of the early Dickson County marriage records are missing, due to a tornado that destroyed the courthouse in 1830, explaining why no record has been located.

Wm Wood's 1919 obituary indicates his marriage to Elizabeth Tatom "near Salem" after he returned from California and the Gold Rush (after 1949). Elizabeth's family arrived in October 1853 and it is likely that she was married soon after, possibly 1854. She had four children prior to 1859, the first, Columbus, born about 1855.
