    Military
A George Walker was a private in Co. F, 48th TN Inf. (Nixon's), Confederate.

The 48th (Nixon's) was formed at Corinth, Mississippi, in April 1862, partly from members off the 48th Tennessee Infantry who were not made prisoners at the Battle of Fort Donelson, and partly from the 54th Tennessee, along with other regiments. It is conceivable that George N. Walker was in the 48th (Voorhies), as his elder half-brother Helton Rutherford Walker fought with that regiment and was taken prisoner at Fort Donelson. CMSR should be found on M268, roll 314.

There may be nothing in the record to confirm or negate this being the subject George N. Walker, but her remains a candidate.  [5
