Bolerjack, section 18, Indian Creek Township, was born in this county, June 12, 1822. He is a son of John Bolerjack, a native of North Carolina, who came to this county in 1818. James K. attended the early schools of the county, but they were very poor and he is mostly self-educated. He taught from 1857 to 1861 in Sacramento. In those early days bears and deer were abundant. His father killed a bear within thirty steps of where they now live. He was married March 4, 1846, to Mary, daughter of George, and sister of William McKenzie, of Norris City. Of their nine children, only seven are living - William H., George W., James C., Silas W., Sarah E., Robert S. and Lorin K. He has been School Trustee for nine years, and School Director for thirteen years. He is a member of the Methodist Episcopal church of Norris City; has been a member of the Methodist church forty years."
