  Eliza probably died prior to 1880. I have located a Thomas SHORT in the 1880 Saline Co IL census with a number of children whose mother was listed as b in IL. He is married to a Julia, age 30, b TN. The youngest child was 3. The eldest child was Alexander, b ca 1868. From this I draw the conclusion that Eliza died between 1877 and 1880, and that Thomas married quickly. It is possible that Eliza died in childbirth in 1867, with the birth of the youngest child, Thomas.
