Notes |
- Adam is confirmed to be the son of John and Emeline (Cunningham) Roush by his death certificate.
- An Adam Roush married Maggie Yates in Howell County on 5 April 1890; Adam would have been age 24, and it seems likely that he was the Adam concerned. No other Adam Roush of marriageable age is known to have been in the county except for his Uncle Adam Roush who was still married to Livonia Chowning. However, his identity as the groom it is not otherwise confirmed.
- Adam has not been located in the 1900 census
- Adam appears in the 1910 Scott Co MO census with his wife "Martha C." born abt 1870 in Illinois. Also in the home were daughters Emma J. (abt 1894, IL); Fannie M. (abt 1896, IL); Dola (abt 1901, MO); and Minnie (abt 1904 MO)
- Adam is found in the 1920 Scott County census with wife "Catherine" born abt 1870 in Illinois. In the home were his daughters: Emma born about 1896 in Missouri, whose mother was born in Illinois; and Dora born about 1897 in Missouri, and married to Harry [Voyles?], also of the home. Dora's husband's surname is not clear. Variant searches on the possible surname fail to turn up a marriage record or a 1930 census record for Dora and her husband.
- Adam is found in the 1930 Scott County census with wife "Ellen" who was age 53, born in Texas. In the home was step-daughter "R. L. Bizzell"
- Adam's 1951 death certificate names "Ella Roush" as his wife
- There is a marriage record for Adam Roush to Ellen Bizzell, 10 December 1927, New Madrid County, Missouri
- A RootsWeb WorldConnect file indicates that Adam Roush, born 1866 in Howell Co MO, married "Mattie Payner," who was born 1866 in White Co, IL, and that they had a duaghter, Fannie May Roush, who was born Nov 1896 in White Co IL. The family file on WorldConnect: "Dyer County and Alsup Families Galore," posted by Sam Alsup (chaplain.alsup@gmail.com), updated 18 January 2012.
- A White County, Illinois, marriage is found between Adam "Raush and Mattie "Pryor," 17 August 1892 (Illinois Online Marriage Index)
- The same WorldConnect file reflected a marriage between Fannie May Roush and Henry Bolden, resulting in the birth of Charles Henry Bolden in 1919 in Scott County, Missouri
- A marriage between "Miss Fanny Roush" and H. M. Bolden is found in 1913, Scott County, MO
- A 1950 death certificate for Fannie May Bolden, Cape Girardeau County, Missouri, states that her parents were Adam Roush and Mattie "Payner" and that she (Fannie) was born 1896 in White Co IL
- The same WorldConnect file stated that Mattie (Payner) Roush died in 1926 in Ripley County, Missouri
- A 1926 Ripley County death certificate is found for Mattie Roush, stating that she was born 1866 in Illinois. The informant was Adam Roush
- A 1913 Scott Co MO death certificate is found for Minnie Roush, born 1903 Sikeston, Scott Co MO; parents Adam Roush born in Howell Co MO and Mattie "Poynor" born in White Co IL
Likely Timeline for Adam Roush
- 1890, Adam Roush marries Maggie Yates, Howell Co MO. It is possible that the couple moved to White County, Illinois. Yates families related to the DeBoard family resided in White County, Illinois; it is possible that Maggie's family moved from White County to Howell County. The marriage probably ended with Maggie's death, but may have ended in divorce.
- 1892, Adam Roush married Martha Catherine "Mattie" Poyner/Payner/Pryor in White Co IL
