    7. _____, Louisa, female, sister, 5 May 1877, 22, Irish, Ontario, can read and write

Louisa, above, should be "Mariah Luisa Cairns" found in birth records, though the birth dates don't match. The birth record gave Mariah Luisa Cairns' birth date as 8 June 1876, where this census gives it as 5 May 1877.

"Roy Cairns" listed above has the same birthdate as Maria and Samuel's son John on 5 May 1878 (according to birth registration. Roy must have been a nickname or a second given name.

It seems likely that the one who appears to be "Thurmeter," age 27, is the same as Maria and Samuels child registered as Mary Catherine, born on 26 July 1871. The birth date in this record agrees. It appears that the name given for her here is the same as one of Eliza's daughters, though it is not clear what that name is, precisely.
Narrative The Cairns History states that Roy stayed around Nassagaway for a while, then "went to the west and married and settled there."  [5
