Quoted from Debra J. Brannan's register report:"George Gilmore never married. George was a ranch and farm hand in the McPherson County, Nebraska, Sandhills region. In the 1920?s, George traveled to Kansas where he assisted with harvests. On his way home to Nebraska, he was robbed and beaten by an unknown assailant. He lay unconscious in the sun until a passerby discovered him. Due to sunstroke and severe head injuries, George suffered permanent brain damage and never fully recovered. He resided with his parents, Edith and Tom, until failing health precipitated his move to a Hastings, Nebraska, care center." [1] |

Funeral services for George Dewey Gilmore, who died Wednesday at Hastings, were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Adams Funeral Home chapel.
The Rev. Bert L. Story, pastor of the First Methodist church, officiated.
Mrs. Glen Watson range "Beautiful Isle" and "In the Garden". Organ accompanist was Mrs. J. B. [Eaves?]. Pallbearers were Ed Dillin, Vern Dillin, Bennie Gilmore, Marion Gilmore, George Guthard, and Claude Lawyer.
Burial was in the North Platte cemetery. |
