Fred's entry on the FindAGrave website cites an obituary apparently printed "back home' in Oklahoma. Newspaper and date of publication not stated:"Fred Stokes Dies In California
Word was received by P. H. Stokes of Stillwater that his brother, Fred Stokes, a Payne County resident for many years, died on Saturday, December 10, 1960, in El Monte, California. He was born in Howell County, Missouri, and married Ruth Fletcher of Glencoe. There are three children: Donald, Darlene, and Betty."
