"Robert W. was born in Mountain View, MO and attended Center Hill School. He received an eighth grade education which was as far as he could go. In addition to working on the farm, he made telephone poles for 75 cents a day and saved his money to buy a buggy. He married Lottie Webber on November 23,1911 at the courthouse in West Plains, Missouri.
Lottie was born in IN; her mother died when she was 2 1/2 and she went to live with her grandparents. Her father remarried when she was 5 and they moved to a farm near Plainsville. When she was 13, the family moved to Mountain View, where she attended Center Hill Church and School.
The couple lived in Mt. View until May 5, 1912 when the entire Stokes family moved to Oklahoma. Bob and Lottie lived with his parents until December at which time they rented a farm near Bethel. In 1924 they bought a farm northeast of Glencoe, the "Abe Cobb" place. In 1958 the couple retired from farming and moved to Glencoe. The couple had six children."

Eudocia Josephine "Docia" Walker, b. 15 Dec 1854, Hickman County, Tennessee, USA , d. 4 Sep 1945, Glencoe, Payne County, Oklahoma, USA (Age 90 years) |

Doc Stokes' obituary (posted by Pat Stokes on his FindAGrave entry) states their marriage date as 30 July 1876. It was not recorded until 15 November 1876, so it is possible that T. C. Bolerjack, the J.P. who performed the marriage, may have made an error.
