My p. 16, Dept of the Interior questionaire dated 15 Jan 1898. In answer to the question "were you previously married?" John M. Journey answered, "Mary Sofronia Farmer Died at Benton Baracks [sic] Mo in Aprile [sic] 1864.
Also my p. 25, joint affidavit of James F. Newcomb and Nathan F. Tate, stamped 20 Aug 1900, stating that Sofronia Farmer, the first wife of John M. Journey, died at Benton Barracks, in Missouri, where she was visiting her husbnad "in camps." At that time her husband was in Co. G, 13th Ill. Cavalry. She was taken home to Richview in Illinois for burial.
