Quoted from DJ Brannan's register report: "Bill Gilmore was a popular Nebraska Sandhills cowboy, who drove cattle for the E. H. Harriman Ranch in Montana and Wyoming. Bill joined the U.S. Navy in 1942 and served his country in the Pacific during WWII. Following the war, Bill worked for McClelland Air Force Base in Sacramento as a naval civilian engineer and training specialist. He went to Viet Nam on two tours as a civilian engineer. Bill was a member of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons and the Order of the Eastern Star. Olive (Howard) Gilmore was a devoted mother and housewife. She was also a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star.[ ]
Olive Howard and her first husband, William Donohue, had one daughter: Terri Lynn Donohue, b. California, 18 November 1944, m. Sacramento, California, 27 November, 1965, Robert Garvey. Bob served in the U.S. Air Force, and he retired from PacBell. Terri is a retired school teacher. Bob McGarvey has served several terms as mayor of Rancho Cordova, California. They have four cildren, surname McGarvey: Robert, Amy, Erin, and William." [1] |

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our wonderful father William Leroy Gilmore on February 17th, 2015.
He was 95. He was born on September 19th, 1919 in North Platte Nebraska.
He met and married the love of his life Olive Marie who he was married to over 50 years.
They raised 3 daughters Terri McGarvey (Bob), Garnett Volkens and Marsha Perez. He had 10 grandchildren & 10 great-grandchildren.
He was a charter member of the VFW Post 4647 & and a 33rd Degree Mason. He retired from McClellan Air Force Base in 1976.
He traveled the world and lead an adventurous life. We loved him dearly and he will be sorely missed.
Viewing will be 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, February 20th, and 9:00 a.m. prior to the services on Monday, February 23, 2015, which are at 10:00 a.m. at Sunset Lawn Chapel of the Chimes, 4701 Marysville Blvd., Sacramento, CA 95838. |
