A James H. Walker estate was probated in Macoupin County, 1872 (Probate Index A). The administratrix was Mary Walker. Supporting the likelihood that this James H. was the James Walker born in 1818 who married Mary Bentley is:- Name of administratrix, "Mary Walker"
- Marriage of Mrs. Mary Walker to Samuel S. Drake in 1876 Macoupin County
- Mary's enumeration in 1880 Madison County, Illinois, in the Samuel Drake household records her age as 55, calculating to a birth year of 1825, the same as the Mary (Bentley) Walker, wife of James Walker
- Present in the 1880 census household of Samuel and Mary Drake was James [P? C?] Walker, age 21, "step son." This age corresponds closely to the age of apparent son James C. found in the 1870 census of James and Mary (Bentley) Walker.

Notes |
Very likely the son of Jacob Walker and Agnes McLean, since he had children named Jacob and Agnes and was born 1818 in Tennessee. Working assumption at the moment, while continuing research.
