    • The death certificate of Florence (Hartley) Mullins offers one discrepancy: place of birth. While Florence was clearly born in Oregon, as supported by every census enumeration, her birthplace is cited on the death certificate as Georgia. Her grandparents, James Hartley and Elizabeth (Walker) Hartley) were both born in Georgia.

      • Sarah's surname is generally accepted as "Paynter" among Hartley researchers
      • There is a record for the marriage of William C. Hartley (younger brother of Henry K. Hartley) to Eliza Ann Paynter in Cedar County in 1861
      • Christian Paynter was enumerated in 1860 Cedar County with daughters "Sarah J." and "Eliza A."

    Family Christopher Mullins
    Married About 1904  [7
    • Florence was located only because her brother Charles's biography names her in about 1920 as "Florence Mullen" and states that she lived in California. Florence and her husband Christopher Mullins are found in the 1910 and 1920 census for Monterey, Monterey County, California, and in the 1930 census for Berkeley, Alameda County, California. They were married about 1904 (1910 census data). Christopher was a hotel steward (probably a maitre d'hotel). They had one known child, daughter, Florence, born about 1906.
