  	Obituary, Arthur L. "Art" Stokes, unidentified newspaper, undated Arthur L. "Art" Stokes, 76, died Thursday, June 29, 2000, in Pawnee. Memorial services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church in Pawnee. Rev. Tom Scott will officiate. Poteet Funeral Home is directing the arrangements. He was born on June 13, 1924, in Apache to Thomas E. Stokes and Carrie Agnes Neely Stokes. He married Velma L. Schroeder on October 19, 1948, in Pawnee. He lived most of his life in Pawnee and was affiliated with the First Christian Church of Pawnee and served as an ombudsman at the Southern Oaks Nursing Home in Pawnee. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching sports, playing dominoes and visiting with relative and friends. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and spent most of his life as a horse farrier and working in the oil field until an accident in 1984. He was predeceased by a son, Buddy Stokes, and four brothers and sisters, Robert, Lora, Earl Raymond and Junior. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, of Pawnee; four children, Susie Hall, of Plano, Texas, Judi Diel and her husband, Mark, of Covington, Tom Stokes and his wife, Trish, of Stillwater, and Brenda Weigt and her husband, Mark, of Tulsa; 10 grandchildren, Quinton, Tiffany and Tara Diel, Brandon Brown and Tessa Stokes, Mark Jr., Mitch, Amanda and McKenzie Weigt and Jordan Hall; and a number of other relatives and many friends.
