- Came to VA from England. In 1641 Richard Preston received 250 acres for transporting five servants, including Edward "Ratcliffe" (also variously spelled Ratliff, Rackly, Racle, etc). On 21 April 1657 Edward Rackley patented 400 acres of land on the south side of the Rappahannock, behind land of John Gilliott, about 12 mi above Nnsemond Towne, Essex Co, VA. A Richard Rackley arrived in VA in the same year (1639), but no relationship is proven. Edward probably served his 7-year term with Preston. 1658 patented 640 acres New Kent Co, VA with neighbor Peter Ford. 1663 another 640 same county.
