  This name could be anything; the same census taker made "Samuel" so hard to read that one transliteration read "Iaml or Jaml" and spelled Arbogast as Arbojust. [3]

I am assuming that the "Nashuous" found in Samuel Arbogast's home in the 1870 Oregon County Missouri census may well have been "Absolam." (The 1870 Oregon Co census taker evidently had atrocious handwriting and spelling!) [S80] Arbogast - burials in Oregon Co MO (email), (Celia Tate (coordinator of the Oregon County, Missouri, GenWeb site) to Janis Walker Gilmore, e-mail, 23 Nov 1998; regarding Arbogast family burials appearing in the Oregon County, Missouri, cemetery book.), Oregon County Missouri census lists him/her age 16, born in Ohio. (Reliability: 3). [S47] Roush - book, History of the Roush Family, Julia Roush O'Melia and Lester Le Roy Roush, (Parkersburg, West Virginia : Melvin C. Roush, 1942), Vol II, pg 119 States that Eve ROUSH married Samuel Arbogast in 1832 and had three children, the third being Philip Arbogast. (Reliability: 3). However, John was born around 1828. This book has been wrong before, so I am guessing that the marriage date might be closer to 1828.
