Accounts of Capt. Jack Sullivan's death vary. Basically, it appears that he may have briefly served the Confederacy in some capacity, as he has a Confederate record, but is referred to as a "detached soldier." Later, February 1864, he joined the Union Army, serving in Co. G, 12th Regiment, Tenn. Cavalry. He was killed in a skirmish near Bird's Ferry on Duck River.
Eyewitness accounts state that he was "was in command of a squad or company of 'home-made Yankees' " He was killed by a bushwhacker in a "skirmish." |
