Probably the Phillip Teter, age 13, found in the home of George W. Gaskill, working as a wood cutter. Possibly his father had moved to Missouri and his mother had died? Illinois marriages reflect a Nancy Teter who married George Gaskill in 1833--this was probably a sister of George W. Teter and an aunt to Phillip. |

Parents |
Philip's death certificate named his parents as "Geo. W. Teter" born in Madison County, Illinois, and "Elizabeth Walker" born in Macoupin County, Illinois. [Elizabeth was actually born in Tennessee] [2] |
RESEARCH |
Probably "Peter" in the 1850 census? "Jane" in the 1850 seems to be right for Julia Teter, who married Archalaus Walker (son of Joseph Walker). Elizabeth (Walker) Teter shown as "Eve" on that census. Poor copying on the part of the census taker? |
