Notes |
- It seems apparent that Boyd must have been John Jasper Campbell's father (grave, naming, etc) - but Matilda, his wife in the 1880 census would not have been old enough to be his mother. I had therefore theorized that he was married earlier to a first wife. Recently I found a posting on Texas County website that supported this theory (see citation.)

John Jasper Campbell stated in the 1880 census that his mother was born in Tennessee - this is our only clue, and it would seem likely that Boyd married her before the family left Tennessee to move to Missouri.

Since their three children were born in Missouri, it is more than likely that Boyd Campbell's first wife died in Missouri.
