[undated and uncited obituary on her FindAGrave listing]:
"Mary Ann Jolley was born August 15, 1855 in Carlinville, Illinois and died on November 23, 1914 in Lebanon, Missouri, aged 59 years, 3 months and 7 days.
She came to Missouri in 1867 with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.J. Jolley.
She was united in marriage to Hart T. Smith in 1876 and to this union were born seven children.
She has been in ill health since last February. During this period, she has been doing much earnest prayer and reading of God's Word, which has been her greatest consolation.
She was a kind, faithful wife, a good neighbor and loving mother and we pray her kind words of advice may fall like dewdrops on the hearts of her heart-broken children, never to be forgotten.
She bore her suffering with great fortitude and patience and passed away to be with Jesus.
Funeral services were conducted by Mrs. William S. Bennett in Travis Chapel and the body was laid to rest in the Mizer cemetery.
She leaves a husband, five children; Rhoder, Gus, Oscar, Will and Goldie; three brothers and two sisters besides a host of friends to mourn her loss. Two of her children died in infancy." |
