  It is possible that this is not the Benjamin McFARLAND that married Elizabeth Johnson and is found in the 1876 Texas County census-- possibly an uncle? There is an age discrepancy with the 1876 Texas Co census, which states he is over 45 -- if he were born in 1838, he would only be 38.
