    "James Henry Devore died at Legion Friday morning at 5:40, July 29th. he was born Nov. 20th, 1895 at Lebanon, Missouri. He came to Legion in 1923 as a veteran of World War I. He was married to Miss Elsie Witt, Aug. 3, 1924. To this union were born 17 children, 13 of whom survive him. These 13 children all live in Kerr County. He has a son and daughter by a former marriage, also. He has grandchildren, too. Also he is survived by his aged parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Devore, Norman, Oklahoma, two sisters, and four brothers. Funeral services were held at Center Point Baptist Church Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. W. S. Bunton and Rev. John Dutro in Center Point."

    James Henry Devore, 55, died Friday at the VeteransAdministration Hospital and was buried Sunday afternoon from the Baptist Church in Center Point under the direction of theStover Memorial Funeral Home. Rev. W. W. Bunton, pastor of the church, officiated.

    He was a native of Lebanon, Missouri, but had lived in Center Point for many years where he operated a farm. He is survived by his widow and 15 children of Center Point; his parents, Mr. andMrs. C. C.DeVore of norman, Oklahoma, and five brothers and two sisters."

    "Elsie DeVore
    Services for Mrs. Elsie Witt Devore, 88, of Center Point, who died Friday in a Kerrville nursing home, will be Monday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Center Point with the Rev. Kevin McDonald officiating.
    Burial will follow in Center Point Cemetery.
    Born March 28, 1906, in Center Point, Mrs. DeVore was a lifetime resident. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Center Point and the American Legion Auxiliary. She had received a 50-year pin from the Center Point Home Demonstration Club.
    She married James Henry Devore on Aug. 3, 1924 in Boerne. He preceded her in death in 1951. She was also preceded in death by seven children and several grandchildren.
    Survivors include eight daughters, Eleanor Baker, Jo Ann Cagle and Donnie S. Devore, all of Center Point, Nancy Faulkner of Cedar Park, Gladys Gardner of Loveland, Betty L. Acker of Mesquite, Elsie B. Kott of Tow, and Huldah F. Baker of Angelon; two sons, Carl Devore of Cherokee and W. O. Devore of Gainesville; a step-son Reuel Devore of Oklahoma City, Okla.; a sister in law Anna Mae Witt of Center Point; 27 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
    Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Center Point.
    Grimes Funeral Chapel in Kerrville is in charge of arrangements."
