Anecdote |
Abt 1897-1900 |
Decaturville, Camden County, Missouri, USA [5] |
William fell in love with a young woman when his family lived near Decaturville. Her family objected to an affiliation with a "foreigner" and there was general prejudice against the Scottish family with their thick brogue. As a result, the family moved a few miles away, and settled in Hooker township, Laclede County, where they bought a farm and remained. |
