• NEWS: 25 Oct 1951, Kansas City, Jackson County, MIssouri, USA; Obituary, Word and Way: "Mourn Death of Rev. John L. Schneider at Atlanta By Leo. T. Crismon, Louisville, Ky. John Leslie Schneider died at his home in Atlanta, Ga., Sept. 29, 1951. For more than two years he had suffered from a heart ailment which resulted in his death. At the time of his death he was pastor of the Northside Baptist Church, Atlanta. He was born on October 28, 1923 near Oakland, Mo. He graduated from Lebanon high school in 1941. He was a student at Southwest Baptist Collge, 1941-42, and at William Jewell College from 1943 until his graduation in 1945. He entered the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in September, 1954, and received his B.D. degree in May, 1948. He immediately began work toward a Th.D. degree, majoring in the Old Testament Department, and had a teaching fellowship in that department during the sessions, 1948-49 and 1949-50. While he was a student at William Jewell College, he was pastor of the Hickory Point Baptist Church in Miller County. During his years at the Seminary he was pastor of the Goshen Baptist Church in Kentucky. During the summer of 1950, because of his health, he was advised by his doctor not to spend another winter in Louisville. He resigned his pastorate at Goshen and gave up his graduate studies and his fellowship and Mrs Schneider gave up her work at the Seminary library, which she had held for more than four years. They later accepted a call to the North Side Baptist Church in Atlanta. In February, 1951, John again had to give up preaching and he was in bed for about six months. In August and September he preached on Sunday mornings and was hopeful that he was regaining his strength, but he was taken with virus pneumonia on September 23 and lived less than a week. Funeral services were conducted by Carroll Owen at the North Side Church in Atlanta on Sunday afternoon, September 30. Services were also conducted at the First Church, Lebanon, Missouri, by R. D. Patterson, pastor of John's home church, Antioch, and by William H. Block, pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church in St. Louis, and a college and seminary classmate of John. The latter services were attended by a large crowd of relatives and friends locally, and from Atlanta, Goshen Church in Kentucky, the Southern Seminary, and from Hickory Point Church in Missouri. Burial was in the Lebanon Cemetery."

• NEWS: 9 Sep 2020, Bolivar, Polk County, Missouri, USA; Bolivar Herald-Free Press: "Arthur Ezra Esther was born Feb. 17, 1948, in Columbia, Boone County, the second of three children born to Calvin Dean Esther and Melba Lee Schneider Esther. He passed away in Springfield on March 10, 1999, being 51 years and 21 days of age. Arthur graduated from Bolivar High School in 1966, going on to graduate from Central Missouri State University at Warrensburg in 1971. He worked as a bank teller and an insurance salesman and helped his dad with farming operations as long as his health permitted. Arthur made friends easily and had a good sense of humor. He had a fantastic memory and, being an avid sports fan, could quote plays outstanding from long-ago games. He played baseball on an independent team for a number of years. He enjoyed playing the piano. Arthur was saved at an early age during a revival meeting at Lebanon and was baptized and joined th Bolivar First Baptist Church. On. Nov. 20, 1980, he was married to Buena Ann Merryboy. One daughter, Audrey, was born to this union. He was preceded in death by his mother, Melba Lee Schneider Esther, in February 1987. Survivors include his daughter, Audrey Esther, Springfield; his father and stepmother, Dean and Harlene Esther, Bolivar; one sister, Deanna Burns, Bolivar; one brother, Robert Esther, Springfield; a stepsister, Roberta Doke, Brighton; one nephew, three nieces, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Arthur is at peace, free from illness and pain. He will be missed by all. Graveside services were Friday, March 12, in Lebanon Cemetery, Lebanon, with the Rev. Ray Leininger officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Butler Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association."
