After an illness of less than five days, "Whit" Reeves has left this world of sorrow, and has been ushered into the presence of his King and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Wesley Whitfield Reeves was born in Missouri on March 4, 1879, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Reeves. He was married in 1903 to Minnie Walker. To this union were born seven sons, all living except Earl, who preceded his father in death by less than a year.
In 1908, Mr. Reeves with his family, moved to Colorado, and have lived in this comment practically all the time since. Mr. Reeves was a good neighbor and a faithful friend to so many of us all through the years.
Mr. Reeves joined the Baptist Church some years ago, and has always been an active member, serving as deacon at the time of his death.
Mr. Reeves died on March 8, 1939, in Colorado Springs, only a few days after his 60th birthday.
He is survived by his widow, his sons, Ernest of Palisade, Colorado; Paul, Marshall, Virgil, Harold and Lester all of this community;; six grandchildren, as well as other relatives and hundreds of friends who, in sympathy, noun with the family the passing of a faithful husband, a good father and Christian gentleman whose manner was always kind and whose word was always good.
He has "fallen asleep in Jesus, therefore we sorrow not, even as the rest, who have no hope."

  Memorial service for Ruth Reeves, who passed away in December, 2005, will be held March 13, 2006, at Hillcrest Cemetery in Arco, at 11:00 a.m. Ruth Reeves, long time resident of the Lost River Valleys, was born Ruth Tripp in Longmont, Colorado on March 25, 1911 to Jesse Albert and Minnie Tripp, the third of seven children. She married Paul Reeves November 23, 1929 in Simia, Colorado. To this union five children were born, Roland, Patricia, Gordon, Richard and Vergil. Her early married life was spent in various areas in Colorado. In June, 1950 they moved to Howe, and in 1956 moved in to Arco. She was a very active member in the Lost Rivers Baptist Church. After Paul's death in 1991, she moved to Colorado Springs, CO to be closer to her son Gordon and other family members. She is survived by Roland (Alamae) of Fort Collins, CO, Gordon (Cheri) of Colorado Springs, CO, Patricia of Minneapolis, Minn., Richard (Yvonne) of Gooding, Idaho and Vergil (Anna) of Thousand Oaks, CA., twelve grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul and three grandchildren.

Earl Reeves, 28 year old Simla youth, was instantly killed late Wednesday afternoon, when struck by lightning as he was working in the field.
Earl, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Reeves, and a graduate of Simla Union High School, made his home with his parents on their farm about five miles south of Simla.
The accident occurred about 4:30 o'clock while Mr. Reeves was plowing with a tractor, but was not discovered until approximately thirty minutes later, when two other men working nearby, saw the tractor circling around apparently out of control, they decided to investigate.
Nearing the tractor, they saw it was driverless, and upon further investigation found Earl lying in the field. The tractor had been running about in a circle and the body was found some distance from the machine.
Dr. D. O. Groves, County Coroner, was called to investigate the accident, after which the body was removed to the Deits Funeral Home in Limon.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Evangelical Church in Simla Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock.

Our brother, Earl Theodore Reeves, was born near Simla, Colo., November 6, 1909. He departed this life April 20, 1938, at the age of 28 years, five months and 14 days. He was the third son of our brother and sister, Wesley Whitfield Reeves and is survived by them as well as six brothers, Ernest of Grand Junction, Paul Marshall, Harold, Vergil and Lester, all of Simla. Our tenderest sympathy goes out to the members of the immediate family over the loss of a son and brother. Our brother was received by the First Baptist church of Simla, Colo., September 8, 1926. He followed his Lord in baptism soon after. Since that time he has been a faithful member and quite recently took the work as teacher of the Young Peoples group. The church will miss his presence most keenly. Our brother was graduated from Simla Union High school in the class of 1929. The greatest thing that can be said of any man can be said of Earl: He was loved by all who knew him. God according to his foreknowledge and in his infinite grace and mercy saw fit to take our brother suddenly from our midst into his Presence.

Mrs. Reeves was born Jan. 29, 1907, in Denver, Mo., to Daniel George and Pernecie (Williams) Moreland , who are deceased. She was married Nov. 23, 1943, in Goodland, Kan., to Marshall Reeves , who survives. She is also survived by two sons, Larry of Simla and Bob Carnes of Arvada; two daughters, Mildred Louise of Denver and Sharon Louise Classen of Littleton; a sister, Mildred Stanton of Kansas City, Kan.; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
