"Lt Col Baylor, CS Army in his 8-25-1862 report stated" 'Lt White sent out a detachment to ascertain if any were left, but found nothing but the hats, boots and several bodies of men who were recognized as men of Lt Mays' party.' It is assumed that the search party buried the men where found." 4th Regiment, Texas Cavalry (4th Mounted Volunteers)
