    "J. Fred Walker Of Dix Dies; Rites At 2:00 Saturday
    " J. Fred Walker, of Dix, died at 11:50 last night at Good Samaritan Hospital, at the age of 73 years, nine months and 20 days.
    Mr. Walker was a retired employee of the Southern Railway Co.
    He was a member of the Central Church of Christ.
    Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 pm. at the Oxborn Funeral Home in Dix. The Rev. Lester Pifer will officiate and burial will follow in Memorial Gardens.
    The body will lie in state at the Osborn Funeral Home at Dix, where friends may call after 6:00 p.m. Friday.
    Mr. Walker was born April 29, 1884 in Boyd, the son of Levi and Winnie (Parker) Walker.
    In December, 1904 he was married to Maryme Rice, who survives.
    Besides his wife he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Jewel Talbott and Mrs. Bee Carpenter, both of Mt. Vernon; two sons, James of Mt. Veron and Dennis of Smithton, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Vena Hawkins of Dix and Mrs. Iva Gossett of Centralia; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two half-brothers."
