William's last known child, William, was born in 1890 in California (Bessie may have been born later, but her birth date is not known). In the 1900 census his wife Louisa (Page) was was enumerated as married; in the 1910 census she was eumerated as a widow. This could indicate that William was still living as late as 1900 and they were divorced after that date. It is equally possible that Louise did not know where William was and chose to characterize herself first as married and later as divorced.

  Report on the death of Aaron Walker, Mariposa (California) Gazette AARON WALKER INSTANTLY KILLED WHILE AT WORK Aaron WALKER of North Fork, an employee of the Minarets and Western railroad, was accidentally killed late yesterday afternoon at Central Camp when a switching train supposedly backed into him and inflicted internal injuries from which he evidently died instantly. WALKER was a brakeman and had been employed with the company for the past nine years. There were no eye witnesses to the tragedy, as he was signaling to the train that is presumed to have struck him. One signal to go backward had been answered by the engineer and it was the continued wait for a second signal that caused the men to investigate. He was found dead by the track. Mr. WALKER is survived by his wife, Alaska May WALKER, with whom he lived at North Fork, three sisters, Mrs. Bessie DOWNING of San Francisco, Mrs. Gertrude MASON and Mrs. Bella BLISS both of North Fork, and three brothers, George and Charles WALKER of Mariposa and William WALKER of North Fork. Internment will be made at North Fork.- Madera Tribune, Oct. 13.

The 1923 obituary/death notice of Aaron M. Walker named his surviving siblings, among them a "Mrs. Bessie Downing" of San Francisco.

A Bessie Walker married A. S. Deatsch in Merced County on 10 July 1898. The groom was from White Rock, Mariposa County, and the bride was from Mariposa. This couple has not been located in the 1900 census, nor can a marriage record be found for them among the California marriages on FamilySearch. The obituary of Sebastian Fabian Deatsch of White Rock appears on the same family page, and identifies a son "Albert S. Deatsch," who may be the A. S. referenced above. Albert S. Deatsch is found in the 1900 Merced County census, but he enumerated as single, a boarder in the home of a family named Burchell.
